I caught myself - Paranome

"All of you know that music provides a fun way to acquire a language, especially if it touches our hearts."

I would make my students to look at the title, read the 1st sentence and make guesses about what the song is about. Students write their guesses and share with their classmates.

I would choose 8 to 10 words (pushing, pulling, magic, hypnotic, witness, breathless, heart...) and ask them what they meant.

Students in 3s write a quick short story using those words.

I would number the students and each one would have to memorise one part of the song. They would recite it before listening to the song again.

They I would play the second video (without lyrics) and they would try to sing the song aloud.

If there is time, we would talk about the film, their favourite characters and their reasons for liking it or not.

Elementary Grammar. Prepositions of Time 1º / 2º ESO

Hello kids! Just in case you still have problems with your 'time'.....

PREPOSITIONS OF TIME

ON is used with days and dates.

We’ve got an exam on Monday 7th November
We’ve got English lessons on Mondays, Fridays and Wednesdays.

AT is used with “night”, “midnight”, “midday”, “Christmas”, “Easter” and with the time of the day.

I am at school at midday
At Christmas I buy presents for my family
I go to the beach at Easter.
The film starts at 6 o’clock

IN is used with other parts of the day (morning, afternoon, evening), with months, with years, and with seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter).

I usually read books in the afternoon
The days are long in August
I was born in 1994
Flowers appear in spring.

English Corner

Hello everybody!

Could you use your English to answer the following question?

Would you rather stay where you live now with your friends and family but no money or receive 1 million euros but never be able to see you family or friends again?

My students' poems

A romantic poem

When I’m looking at your eyes you make me feel in the sky
And each gray is a lie
Or each shiny star is hope
What I can buy in a candy shop

My life with you is so romantic
Because you make me feel too fantastic
The sun is shining but I keep it dark
The love is haunted by a mad-hawk

The Do-It-Yourself Love Song

This activity was done by my 4ºA ESO students to celebrate St. Valentine's day. I hope you can enjoy it as much as we did.

Read the poem and underline the correct alternatives.

The Do-It-Yourself Love Song

I'm so happy that I found you
I always want to be about / between / around / against you.
And if I'm sal and all lonely / sorry / alone / depressed,
I call you on my mobile phone.
And tell you just how much I care,
And how I miss your fragrant eyes / teeth / legs / hair,
Your shining eyes, your loving touch / way / voice / heart,
I have to call, I have no choice.
I thank the shining stars between / above / around
That I have found the perfect love
I've had other loves, it's true / right / clear /obvious
But none that can compare with you.
Believe me love, I'd rather die
That cause you pain or make you laugh / scream / weep / cry.
The strong emotions that I feel
Prove to me our love is loyal / real / reat /fine.
But now that I've given you my mind / word / heart / trust
Promise me we'll never part.
For if you went away -what then?
I'm sure I'd nerver love twice / after / more / again.

Once the poem was done and read aloud in class I told them to write a love poem with a partner. I gave them some words that could help but they could use the words they wanted.

trust sun woman man voice warm taste perfume wind flowers love

dream like cold die flame date rain together soft remember paradise

sugar world soul life smile enjoy blue passion life true star

feel hot special alive embrace fine time sky sweet wave romantic

touch mouth hands heart hair without lips stay cry magic kiss

Be sure Be mine Deep inside By my side

All of them invented poems and some of them created power points with them.
I really hope they post them in 'My students' poems'

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

My dear witches
